Flowers of the week.

Never really liked carnations. They always seem to look a bit dried out and a bit, well, cheap and nasty.
However, I have been trying to keep an open mind about them and actually, they're not bad. Not bad at all!
I chose the carnations this week because I wanted to get my nan's old milk jug out again and use it as a vase. I love love love that shade of green!
So, I was looking for a colour for the flowers that would contrast perfectly with my beautiful green.
ANYWAY enough about the fascinating workings of my mind!?
I hope you like the end result and if you aren't a carnation fan, maybe you will give them a chance in the future.
They really are quite nice!

Now I've been a long-term carnation loather (first job working in a florist at 13 - can I tell you how many blokes asked for a half bunch of mixed carnations - with one sprayed BLUE!). However, that shade, with that beautiful jug... looks divine. YOU may have changed my mind!

have you seen the pretty ranunculus in the stores at the moment? A mixed bunch of those would just pop in that jug too...

yep..not a carnation fan either, but I must admit they do look quite nice in your nan's milk jug. I don't like the carnations with the shortish petals, yours look longer & more appealing. :)

Liss - feel so much happier to find I am not alone in the carnation loathing...I really felt that I wasn't giving the same love I give to most flowers!!

PPMJ - will keep an eye out for the ranunculus. I can't get over the blue carnation. That is just unacceptable!

m.e (cathie) - so glad you like them! The carnations are apparently 'thin' carnations. I'm still not clear on what that means but maybe the longer petals?
